A state judge in Nassau County has has reversed a $1 million jury verdict in a medical malpractice case earlier this week, citing the behavior of the plaintiff’s counsel during trial.
Nassau County Supreme Court Justice Jeffrey Brown ordered a new trial in Hilt vs. Carpentieri, 010589/2011, in large part over plaintiffs’ counsel Steven Goldfarb’s “inappropriate behavior in the presence of the jury” that “created an atmosphere that deprived the defendants of a fair trial.”
