An Egyptian Muslim employee of Astoria Bank won a reversal and remand summary order from the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit on Tuesday in a hostile work environment case. Sherin Ahmed alleges she was told to remove her religious head wrap and that she was “suspicious” by another employee on the anniversary of the Sept. 11 terror attacks.

The order by Judges John Walker Jr., Gerard Lynch and Raymond Lohier Jr. in Ahmed v. Astoria Bank et al, 1:14-cv-04595, vacated the summary judgement and remanded the case after the panel found that Eastern District Judge Jack Weinstein erred in dismissing Ahmed’s claim.
