State lawmakers should revamp New York’s power of attorney form to make it less complex, expensive and inconvenient, the New York State Bar Association said.

The bar group this week renewed its call for the Legislature to simplify the document; prevent banks, investment firms and other parties from improperly refusing to recognize a valid power of attorney; and make the language in the power of attorney form substantially the same as the language in the statute to prevent a form from being invalidated due to a typographical or other harmless error.
