ESTATE OF PHILIPPE CHIEU, Deceased (20-518/A/B/C) — This court grants this unopposed petition by the Administrator of decedent’s estate for leave to collect and account for the proceeds of an award by the September 11th Victim Compensation Fund (the “VCF,” as authorized by Pub L 111-347, 124 Stat 3623 [2011], and further authorized by Pub L 116-34, 133 Stat 1040 [2019] [the "9/11 Acts"]). Decedent was in the “exposure zone” as defined by the 9/11 Acts and developed and died from liver cancer contracted through that exposure. Petitioner’s request to allocate the award in accordance with the VCF Loss Calculation Detail is approved. The restrictions on the Letters of Administration are modified to allow Petitioner to collect the proceeds of the award and to execute any receipt and releases as may be required. Attorneys fees are fixed and determined at a rate of 10 percent as requested in the petition. Reimbursement for funeral expenses in the amount of $20,227.00, is granted. The net award proceeds shall be distributed as set forth in the decree. Decree settling Administrator’s account signed. Dated: January 31, 2022
