ESTATE OF CHARLES KWASI AMPOFO, Deceased (20-1385) — The co-petitioners in this proceeding for letters of limited administration are the decedent’s surviving spouse, who is his sole distributee, and a designee. The letters are sought for the sole purpose of prosecuting causes of action on behalf of the decedent’s estate. Jurisdiction was obtained over the decedent’s parents as interested parties. On the return date of citation, which was held on the court’s virtual platform, the decedent’s father did not appear. His mother appeared remotely, however, and was granted an adjournment so she could speak with an attorney. On the subsequent calendar date, the mother did not appear on the court’s virtual platform. Thereafter, during an off-calendar conference with a member of the Law Department and counsel for co-petitioners, the mother alleged that the decedent may have had a child. To date, she has not provided any evidence of this claim, despite being given ample time and opportunity to do so. The court has not received any written objections to the relief sought by the co-petitioners. On this state of the record, the co-petitioners’ application is granted. Letters of administration, limited pursuant to SCPA 702 (1), shall issue to the co-petitioners upon their duly qualifying according to law. Submit decree. June 16, 2022
