ESTATE OF RONALD D’JOMAMBO, Deceased (21-1411/A/B/C) — The court grants this unopposed petition by Jacqueline McLawhorn, as Administrator of the estate of Ronald D’Jomambo, to collect and account for the proceeds of an award by the September 11″ Victim Compensation Fund (the “VCF,” as authorized by Pub L 111-347, 124 Stat 3623 [2011], and further authorized by Pub L 116-34. 133 Stat 1040 [2019] [the "9/11 Acts"). Decedent, who was in the "exposure zone" as defined by the 9/11 Acts, died on January 25, 2018, from gallbladder cancer which developed through his exposure during and in the aftermath of the terrorist attacks on September 1i, 2001. Decedent was survived by his spouse, an adult son, and an infant daughter, who is now an adult. The record reflects that decedent was 56 years old at the time of his death and had worked as a New York City bus operator. The proceeds are allocated in accordance with the VCF Award Detail. The restrictions contained in the Letters of Administration are modified, and Petitioner is authorized to collect the award and execute any receipts and releases that may be required. Petitioner is further authorized to reimburse herself the sum of $1,972.00 for decedent's funeral expenses. Attorneys fees are fixed at a rate of 10 percent of the award inclusive of disbursements, as provided by the 9/11 Acts. The net award shall be distributed as set forth in the Decree and pursuant to EPTL 5-4.4 and 4-1.1(a)(1). Decree settling Administrator's account signed. Dated: July 9, 2024
