Faced with overwhelming opposition from local bar groups and considerable dissension from within, the New York State Bar Association has sidestepped a proposal that would have partially opened the attorney disciplinary process.
Instead of voting on a proposal to open proceedings earlier, the House of Delegates on Friday substituted a resolution urging the adoption of uniform, statewide procedures and standards in disciplinary matters.
