Compared to the highly-charged, seemingly non-stop Enron media circuses issuing daily from Houston and Washington, D.C., the actual Enron Chapter 11 bankruptcy has been proceeding briskly in the Southern District, with surprisingly little fanfare.

In short order, Enron Corp. and its creditors arranged and got Judge Arthur Gonzalez’s approval for the sale of a number of the company’s subsidiaries, including its chief wholesale trading operation. Just last Wednesday, Enron announced it had reached a deal to sell yet another subsidiary to General Electric, a sale still subject to the court’s approval.
