ALBANY – An elderly woman with a life expectancy of less than 10 years has been awarded $832,200 in a medical malpractice action against the state.

Court of Claims Judge Diane L. Fitzpatrick of Syracuse found that the claimant, who was already suffering from atrial fibrillation, congestive heart failure, hypothyroidism and osteoporosis, led an active life that included two-mile daily walks, gardening and traveling.
