A civil court judge has granted a default judgment against a corporation that was originally represented by an attorney but lost its “hired gun” and did not retain a substitute.
In Mark Landsberg Consulting v. Terral Corp., 53340/05, Manhattan Civil Court Judge Arthur F. Engoron said that because defendant Terral Corp. “had notice of the instant motion for summary judgment, failed to oppose it, and even failed to appear by an attorney,” default judgment should be awarded.
