Melissa McClenaghan Martin, president of Career Women's Initiative, writes that although roughly 50 percent of those entering firms have been women for more than two decades, only 18 percent of partners at the nation's largest firms are women. Some firms are leading the way in addressing this issue, with women's initiatives that are more than just work-life programs and affinity groups. These firms are grooming the next generation of leaders by tapping women's leadership and business development potential.
