With last month's report by the Federal Trade concluding that self-regulation of the Internet has been inadequate in dealing with online privacy concerns, it now seems inevitable that Congress will pass some sort of online privacy law. This article examines the FTC's legislative recommendation and how it will affect companies that collect and use personal information from Internet users. It also looks at how companies have been complying with COPA which took effect in April.
