A federal judge in Brooklyn has warned against the routine disclosure of Social Security numbers during pretrial discovery.
The ruling by Judge Edward R. Korman, chief judge of the Eastern District, reversed the decision of a magistrate judge overseeing discovery in a copyright infringement suit involving a licensing company and a karaoke club in Flushing, N.Y.
