A former equity fund owner who has flouted several court orders that he pay his ex-wife millions of dollars in property distribution and maintenance may not appeal the underlying judgment of divorce, a unanimous panel of New York’s Appellate Division, 1st Department, has ruled.

Noting that Norman Wechsler now lives in Colorado and refuses to return to New York, the panel invoked the “fugitive disentitlement doctrine” in dismissing his appeal.
