Canada's largest retailer, Hudson's Bay Company, has agreed to merge with NRDC Equity Partners, which owns Lord & Taylor and Fortunoff. The transaction will create a new holding company called Hudson's Bay Trading Company, LP, which will comprise more than $8 billion in annual retail sales, 75,000 employees and 55 million square feet of stores across North America. Also, Cleveland-Cliffs Inc., North America's largest producer of iron ore pellets, has acquired Alpha Natural Resources Inc. in a $10 billion deal.
