Southern District Bankruptcy Judge Arthur J. Gonzalez on Tuesday approved procedures for the sale of most of Chrysler LLC to Fiat SpA. Once the fast-tracked bankruptcy procedure is complete, Fiat will initially take a 20 percent stake in Chrysler with an option to acquire the remaining 15 percent after meeting certain requirements. Also, in a $7.8 billion cash deal, Citigroup Inc. has sold its Japanese brokerage firm Nikko Cordial Securities Inc. to Japan-based Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation.
