Both the Yankees and the Mets have received funding for new stadiums within one block of their current homes. The New York City Industrial Development Agency has issued bonds totalling $967.5 million to the Yankees for a stadium seating 50,000 spectators, and $612 million to the Mets, who will be able to accomodate 45,000 fans. The bulk of the funding for both projects was through Payment In Lieu of Taxes (PILOT) bonds.
