Judge Teresa Corrigan.

Judge Teresa Corrigan will take over as the supervising judge of the Nassau County Court, replacing Christopher Quinn who stepped down at the end of November.

Corrigan, a former prosecutor who was elected to the bench in 2012, now presides over criminal cases in Nassau County. She will be responsible for supervising 17 judges who handle felony cases and grand jury processing and arraignments at two facilities in Mineola.

“Judge Corrigan is a well-respected and independent judge faithful to the rule of law,” said Nassau County Administrative Judge Thomas A. Adams.

As an assistant district attorney in Brooklyn, Corrigan specialized in gang, gun and drug investigations and prosecutions. In Nassau County, she was bureau chief of the Street Narcotics and Gang Bureau.

Quinn's resignation a month after the election surprised Nassau County court officials. “After winning a hard fought re-election, I believe it is in the best interest of the court to return to serving the people of Nassau County as a trial judge,” Quinn said at the time.

Corrigan graduated from New York Law School.
