The New York Law Journal 100 is the premier source for comprehensive headcount and revenue data gathered from the largest firms in the Empire State. Published each summer as a collaboration between Law.com Compass and the Law Journal’s editorial team, and powered with intelligence gathered directly from firms, the NYLJ 100 is your star chart for the center of the legal universe.
While business has slowed in some sectors–global M&A activity was down 37% last year, and market capitalization decreased by 16.2 percent–and some firms are looking to shed some extra weight, New York’s eclectic, resilient and dynamic legal market remains as strong as ever. Taken together, the top players in the state reported a 6% average growth rate over the previous year–with some of the top 10 firms on the NYLJ 100 reporting double-digit percentage increases in their Big Apple headcounts.
And it’s not just homegrown firms that are growing their New York ranks–a number of firms near the top of the list with home bases in other cities and regions are setting up more desks in Manhattan and points beyond.
Below you will find our various rankings of the NYLJ 100, along with analysis of the market.
