Time to Spare— “The Situation” and his lawyers will get extra time to “shore up” his defense against tax fraud chargers.
The trial against the former “Jersey Shore” cast member, born Michael Sorrentino, and his brother, Marc, was originally scheduled to start on March 2, but was issued a “complex case designation” by U.S. District Judge Susan Wigenton of the District of New Jersey and postponed until Sept. 14.
Wigenton made the decision, announced Jan. 14 by the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of New Jersey, due to the “sufficient time” that the defense needs to pore over “voluminous” amounts of discovery material.
