A man who had three toes amputated following an accident at a condominium construction site agreed to a $1.2 million settlement in his Middlesex County suit, Melman v. PRC Construction, on April 25.
Jack Melman was visiting a condominium under construction in Sayreville on July 24, 2014, when a section of granite countertop fell to the floor, crushing his right foot. As a result, Melman, then 52, had his second and fifth toes amputated, and later had the fourth toe amputated.
Melman suffered from anxiety and post-traumatic stress disorder after the amputations, and experienced stiffness in the foot and difficulty with walking and balance, the suit claimed.
