New Jersey on Monday moved closer to joining the growing ranks of states enacting legislation regulating daily fantasy sports betting—the multimillion-dollar-a-year industry that, until recently, has gone unregulated nationwide.
The Assembly approved the legalization and regulatory bill, A-3532, in a 56-13 vote. It still must be acted on by the Senate and approved by Gov. Chris Christie if it is to be enacted. The bill is sponsored by Assemblymen Vincent Mazzeo, D-Atlantic, Ralph Caputo, D-Essex, and John Burzichelli, D-Gloucester.
Ten other states—New York, Illinois, Massachusetts, Arkansas, Colorado, Tennessee, Missouri, Virginia, Mississippi and Kansas—already have enacted similar legislation, according to Legal Sports Report, a publication that focuses on the sports-betting industry.

The action, filed Oct. 7 in New York Southern District Court by the Brown Law Firm, accuses the company's directors and/or officers of falsely expressing confidence in the company’s restructuring of its sales incentive plan and downplaying the severity of decreases in its upfront commitments.
