The Office of Senior Vice President and General Counsel at Rutgers University proved to be an asset to the institution in 2016—heavily engaged in the many employment issues that arise in an institution that employs about 27,000. The group tackled numerous disputes in-house, successfully trying a whistleblower case to verdict and helping resolve a dispute between Rutgers’ colleges and its alumni group. On the transactional side, the department aided with the creation of Rutgers Health, which consolidated numerous clinical services, and guided outside bond counsel on the issuance of some $165 million in general obligation bonds.

** The responses were provided by John J. Hoffman, senior vice president and general counsel, and the deputy general counsels: Annemarie Boyan, David A. Cohen, Rob Roesener, Aron M. Schwartz and Lisa Wahler. **
