A New Jersey appeals court has ruled that Gov. Chris Christie does not have to turn over correspondence with a nonprofit group that assisted with his unsuccessful presidential bid.

A New Jersey appeals court has ruled that Gov. Chris Christie does not have to turn over correspondence with a nonprofit group that assisted with his unsuccessful presidential bid.
A two-judge Appellate Division panel said the document request, filed under the state's Open Public Records Act, was overly broad and did not specify the nature of the correspondence sought.
The OPRA request and subsequent lawsuit was filed by Alexis Serringer, the daughter of former Secaucus Mayor Dennis Elwell. Elwell, a Democrat, was sentenced to two and a half years in prison in 2011 after being convicted of accepting a $10,000 bribe in a case brought by Christie when Christie was serving as U.S. attorney for the District of New Jersey.
