The New Jersey Senate in a late voting session Friday gave final legislative approval to a bill that would regulate daily fantasy sports betting, a multi-million-dollar-a-year industry that has, until recently, gone largely unregulated nationwide.

The Senate passed the bill, A-3532, in a 29-6 vote, sending it to Gov. Chris Christie for consideration.

The vote comes two days after the U.S. Supreme Court announced it would hear New Jersey's appeal of lower court rulings that have barred the state from legalizing sports betting—an initiative that is supported by Christie and by both Democrats and Republicans in the Legislature as a means of raising revenue.
