Among the many services affected by New Jersey's government shutdown, which has continued on into Monday afternoon, is the courts.

Chief Justice Stuart Rabner late Sunday issued an order declaring the Superior Court, Appellate Division, Tax Court and Administrative Office of the Courts closed as of July 1, “except for emergent court matters and such other essential functions and supporting operations as may be determined” by him.

Municipal courts are unaffected by the order. Information technology, payroll, accounting and security services remain in operation to some extent, “to support the emergeny proceedings or essential functions as described in this or subsequent orders[.]” Monday and any other closure days will be treated as legal holidays, and filing deadlines are tolled, according to the order.
