McElroy Deutsch Welcomes Summer Associates
McElroy, Deutsch, Mulvaney & Carpenter welcomed its summer associates for the 2017 class.
In Hartford, Connecticut: Rosanna Tamam attends Quinnipiac University School of Law, where she is a staff member of the Probate Law Journal. She received her B.A. in political science and law & society from American University.
In Morristown: Ghatul Abdul is currently attending Seton Hall University School of Law, where she is the secretary of the Real Estate Law Society and a member of the Student Body Association Diversity Committee. She received her B.S. in 2011 from Virginia Commonwealth University. Last summer, she interned for the U.S. Attorney's Office. Jason Castle attends Seton Hall Law, where he is the president of both the Student Bar Association and the Student Veterans Association. He earned his B.S. in business management from Norwich University, Military College of Vermont in 2011. From 2003 to 2011, Jason was a sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps. Tina DiFranco currently attends Seton Hall Law. She received her B.A. in legal studies and political science from William Paterson University. Last semester she was a judicial extern for Superior Court Judge Thomas V. Manahan. Last summer, she was the Clifford Fellow at McElroy Deutsch. Joseph Romano is a student at Seton Hall Law, where he is an associate editor of the Seton Hall Law Review. He earned his B.S. in economics and finance from Bentley University in 2014. He worked at McElroy Deutsch as a law clerk for the private client services group. Christopher Taillefer is currently a student at Rutgers Law School's Newark campus, where he serves as associate editor of the Rutgers Law Record. He received his B.A. in English from Rutgers University and his Ed.M. from Rutgers Graduate School of Education. Sara Torres is a student at Rutgers Law in Newark, where she is senior editor of the Rutgers University Law Review and vice president of community affairs. She received her B.A. in journalism and professional writing from The College of New Jersey. Last summer, she was the Rutgers MSP student at McElroy Deutsch. Devin White attends Washington & Lee University School of Law. He earned his B.A. in history and classical civilization from Fordham University. Prior to attending law school, he was a surface warfare officer for the U.S. Navy for five years. Last summer, he was a judicial intern for the Civil Part of the Union County Superior Court.

Driscoll from Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr have stepped in to represent Symbotic Inc., an A.I.-enabled technology platform that focuses on increasing supply chain efficiency, and other defendants in a pending shareholder derivative lawsuit. The case, filed Oct. 2 in Massachusetts District Court by the Brown Law Firm on behalf of Stephen Austen, accuses certain officers and directors of misleading investors in regard to Symbotic's potential for margin growth by failing to disclose that the company was not equipped to timely deploy its systems or manage expenses through project delays. The case, assigned to U.S. District Judge Nathaniel M. Gorton, is 1:24-cv-12522, Austen v. Cohen et al.

Edmund Polubinski and Marie Killmond of Davis Polk & Wardwell have entered appearances for data platform software development company MongoDB and other defendants in a pending shareholder derivative lawsuit. The action, filed Oct. 7 in New York Southern District Court by the Brown Law Firm, accuses the company's directors and/or officers of falsely expressing confidence in the company’s restructuring of its sales incentive plan and downplaying the severity of decreases in its upfront commitments. The case is 1:24-cv-07594, Roy v. Ittycheria et al.

The suit was filed Sept. 7 in Wisconsin Western District Court by Levine Eisberner LLC and Siri & Glimstad on behalf of a project manager who claims that he was wrongfully terminated after applying for a religious exemption to the defendant's COVID-19 vaccine mandate. David X. Sullivan, Thomas J. Finn and Gregory A. Hall from McCarter & English have entered appearances for Sunrun Installation Services in a pending civil rights lawsuit. The complaint was filed Sept. 4 in Connecticut District Court by attorney Robert M. Berke on behalf of former employee George Edward Steins, who was arrested and charged with employing an unregistered home improvement salesperson. The complaint alleges that had Sunrun informed the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection that the plaintiff's employment had ended in 2017 and that he no longer held Sunrun's home improvement contractor license, he would not have been hit with charges, which were dismissed in May 2024. The case, assigned to U.S. District Judge Jeffrey A. Meyer, is 3:24-cv-01423, Steins v. Sunrun, Inc. et al.
