Two New Jersey law firms will have to battle it out over fees generated in a product liability suit where the client switched firms midstream, a New Jersey appeals court has ruled.

A two-judge Appellate Division panel on Aug. 18 said a judge will have to determine what portion of fees are due to a firm that the plaintiff first hired based on the work that firm performed.

The dispute involves Hackensack's Dexter & Kilcoyne and Arturi, D'Argenio, Guagliardi & Meliti in Rochelle Park.
