In the recent “Voice of the Bar,” Thomas H. Prol, the past State Bar Association President, lent the prestige of that office to accuse South Brunswick Township of “uncivil,” “ad hominem attacks” against former Mount Laurel Judge Douglas K. Wolfson (“Wolfson”). Lest the interests of South Brunswick—and indeed all New Jersey citizens—suffer prejudice by these accusations, a response is essential.

It is unfortunate that Mr. Prol defended Judge Wolfson without getting the facts or law straight. Had he done so, it would have been manifest that South Brunswick and New Jersey citizens are the victims here—not Wolfson. Indeed, an examination of the facts reveals a stunning picture of a judge issuing Mount Laurel opinions of enormous statewide significance that benefitted a developer with whom Wolfson has had a long-standing personal and professional relationship before, during, after a three-year judgeship.
