July is here, and for many young lawyers that means the relief of finishing the bar exam. For those starting their legal careers in the autumn, this means one final care-free summer without any responsibilities. For the traditional law school student, the beginning of your upcoming legal career will be the first time that you will no longer have blocks of time to yourself without competing interests. Knowing what we know now, here are a few ideas on how to spend these weeks.

Get to Know Your New Location

If your job has you headed to a new city, spend some time learning about the city. There are sure to be historical sites just a stone’s throw away from your new office. Appreciating the history around the town where you will spend so much time makes your afternoon coffee-run that much more enjoyable. Speaking of coffee, go find the spot where you’ll get your fix. Now’s the perfect time to explore and get your routine down.
