Schenck, Price, Smith & King of Florham Park welcomed six new attorneys: One partner, two counsel and three associates. James A. Dempsey, concentrating on commercial lending and secured transactions, joined as a partner, from Greenberg Traurig, where he also was partner. Dempsey is a graduate of Seton Hall University School of Law and an executive board member of the Association of Commercial Finance Attorneys. Ilana T. Pearl joined as counsel, also from Greenberg Traurig. She focuses on mergers and acquisitions, financing, corporate governance and securities law compliance. She graduated magna cum laude from Cornell Law School and was managing editor of the Cornell Law Review. She also clerked for Judge Joseph M. McLaughlin of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, and Judge Paul A. Crotty of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York. Jamie Taub, previously with Budd Larner, joined as counsel. He concentrates in corporate and intellectual property counseling, relating to all aspects of business. He is a graduate of Rutgers Law School. Erica Speier Berman joined as an associate, focusing on complex business litigation. A graduate of New York University School of Law, she was previously an associate with Rubenstein Business Law and Willkie Farr & Gallagher. Lauren I. Mechaly joined as an associate, focusing on elder law, special needs planning, estate planning, and estate administration. She was previously as associate with Schiff Hardin. She is a graduate of Albany Law School. Matthew P. Posada, previously with Inglesino, Webster, Wyciskala & Taylor, joined as an associate, focusing on real estate development and land use. Anderson of Lindabury, McCormick, Estabrook & Cooper in Westfield was elected president of The Parlex Group, an international network of law firms that work together handling cross-border legal transactions. According to the firm, Anderson is the first non-European to serve as president in the organization's 47-year history. "In our increasingly interconnected world, legal transactions now regularly involve multiple countries and legal systems," Anderson said in a statement. In his practice, Anderson represents emerging and established corporate clients in mergers and acquisitions, intellectual property, and securities law matters. He also handles cybersecurity, data privacy, internet law, and startup formation and operations. he is admitted in New Jersey and New York, and earned his J.D. from Fordham University School of Law.
