Seton Hall Law Names Associate Deans
Seton Hall University School of Law named professors Kristen E. Boon and Brian Sheppard associate deans. Dean Kathleen M. Boozang said in a statement: “Both are outstanding classroom professors and productive scholars, and I know they will bring the same enthusiasm and creativity to their new roles.”
Boon, who joined the faculty in 2006, will serve as associate dean for faculty research and development, tasked with expanding teaching and scholarship. Boon's subject matter expertise is international law, including law governing international organizations, international arbitration, transnational law, and international humanitarian law. She also teaches 1L contracts. She holds a Doctorate in law from Columbia Law School and a J.D. from New York University School of Law. She was awarded an M.A. from McGill University and Sciences Po (Paris), and a B.A. with honors from McGill University. “Dean Boozang is always thinking down the road about what the next five years will look like,” Boon said in a statement. “That makes it an especially exciting time to be at Seton Hall Law, watching our future unfold.”
Sheppard, who joined the faculty in 2010, was named associate dean for JD and graduate admissions. He teaches torts, professional responsibility, entertainment law, and lawyering, and researches He researches the intersection of human behavior and computer automation, and the insights of legal philosophy and the methodologies of behavioral psychology. He holds a S.J.D. and LL.M. from Harvard Law School, a J.D. from Boston College Law School, and a B.A. from College of the Holy Cross. “It's a tremendous honor to be entrusted with my new role as Associate Dean,” Sheppard said in a statement.
Retired Judge Contillo Joins Ferro Labella
Robert P. Contillo, presiding chancery judge in Bergen County since 2010 before recently retiring, has joined Ferro Labella & Zucker of Hackensack. He was appointed to Superior Court in 2002 and assigned to the Chancery Division in 2006. Contillo joins retired Judge Peter E. Doyne in the firm's alternative dispute resolution practice. Like Doyne, he will serve as a mediator, arbitrator and special master, conducting internal investigations, and consulting on a variety of business, fiduciary and litigation matters, the firm said. A graduate of Boston College and the Catholic University of America Law School, Contillo was in private practice at his own law firm prior to becoming a judge.

Sherman Joins Slowinski Atkins as Partner
Slowinski Atkins announced that James Sherman joined the firm as a partner in the Livingston office. Sherman concentrates his practice in environmental law and litigation, redevelopment, renewable energy law, and “clean-tech startups.”
Flaster Greenberg Adds Three
Flaster Greenberg added three attorneys: Daniel B. Markind, as a partner bringing a nationally known aviation practice and some 35 years' real estate and transactional experience; and tax attorney Eric Loi and trusts and estates attorney Courtney Dolaway Zeuner.
Markind represents large companies in sophisticated purchase, sale, financing, leasing, zoning and land use, workout and development matters, and has helped form and grow smaller businesses. He also has a national aviation law practice, representing airports in litigation against the Transportation Security Administration, in business matters, and in connection with energy assets. He is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School of Business and University of Pennsylvania Law School, He is licensed in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and New York.

The case, filed Oct. 2 in Massachusetts District Court by the Brown Law Firm on behalf of Stephen Austen, accuses certain officers and directors of misleading investors in regard to Symbotic's potential for margin growth by failing to disclose that the company was not equipped to timely deploy its systems or manage expenses through project delays. The complaint alleges that had Sunrun informed the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection that the plaintiff's employment had ended in 2017 and that he no longer held Sunrun's home improvement contractor license, he would not have been hit with charges, which were dismissed in May 2024.
