McElroy Deutsch Welcomes New Associates
McElroy, Deutsch, Mulvaney & Carpenter of Morristown welcomed a new class of fall associates for 2018. The associates are based in different firm offices.
Althea Daley joined the litigation and insurance services group in New York. She earned her J.D. from Fordham University School of Law (2017) and her B.S., cum laude, in criminology/criminal Justice and English literature from Florida State University. She clerked for Superior Court Judge Martin G. Cronin.
Jeffrey A. Dorman joined the construction, fidelity and surety group in Hartford. He received his J.D. and M.B.A. in 2017 cum laude from Quinnipiac University School of Law, where he was co-executive managing editor of the Probate Law Journal. He earned his B.A. in political science from Hobart William & Smith Colleges. He clerked for the Connecticut Superior Court in New Haven County.
Spenser Frieri joined the construction, fidelity and surety group in Morristown. He graduated in 2017 from Seton Hall University School of Law, where he was president of the Rodino Society and a recipient of the Peter W. Rodino Award in recognition of exemplary leadership, service to the community and humanitarianism. He earned his B.S. cum laude in management from Bucknell University. He clerked for Morris County Superior Court Judge Robert J. Brennan.
Laura Garcia joined the construction, fidelity and surety group in Morristown. She received her J.D. cum laude in 2017 from Rutgers Law School, where she was executive editor of the Rutgers University Law Review. She competed in the first annual Garth Competition, arguing before a three-judge panel that included U.S. Supreme Court Justice Samuel A. Alito. Garcia earned her B.A. summa cum laude in criminal justice from Monmouth University. She clerked for Appellate Division Judge Francis J. Vernoia. She is fluent in Spanish.
Lauren R. Jackson joined labor and employment group in Morristown. She attended Howard University School of Law, where she was president of the Student Bar Association, and graduated in 2017. She participated in the Civil Rights Clinic, presenting an oral argument before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit. She received her B.B.A. and Master of Public Administration from Seton Hall University. She clerked for Superior Court Judge Magali M. Francois.
Abdul Rehman Khan joined commercial group in New York. He graduated in 2017 from Rutgers Law School, where he was the managing articles editor of the Journal of Law & Public Policy. He received his B.A. in economics, public policy and political science, summa cum laude, from Rutgers University. He clerked for Appellate Division Judge Ellen Koblitz.
Patrick D. Laconi joined the litigation and insurance services group in Morristown. He graduated from the University of Baltimore School of Law in 2017, and earned his B.B.A and B.E.C from Loyola University of Maryland Sellinger School of Business. He clerked for Union County Superior Court Judge Mark P. Ciarroca.
Ryan Savercool joined the labor and employment group in Morristown. He received his J.D. cum laude from Seton Hall University School of Law in 2017 and was a member of the Seton Hall Legislative Journal. He earned his B.A. in integrative physiology and philosophy from the University of Colorado at Boulder. He clerked for New Jersey Supreme Court Justice Anne M. Patterson.
Parampreet Singh joined the health care group in Morristown. He earned his J.D. in 2017 from Rutgers Law School, where he was the law school liaison for the New Jersey State Bar Association and senior editor of the Rutgers Computer and Technology Law Journal. He received his B.A. from The College of New Jersey. Singh clerked for Superior Court Judge Lisa Rose.

Driscoll from Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr have stepped in to represent Symbotic Inc., an A.I.-enabled technology platform that focuses on increasing supply chain efficiency, and other defendants in a pending shareholder derivative lawsuit. The case, filed Oct. 2 in Massachusetts District Court by the Brown Law Firm on behalf of Stephen Austen, accuses certain officers and directors of misleading investors in regard to Symbotic's potential for margin growth by failing to disclose that the company was not equipped to timely deploy its systems or manage expenses through project delays. The case, assigned to U.S. District Judge Nathaniel M. Gorton, is 1:24-cv-12522, Austen v. Cohen et al.

The complaint was filed Sept. 4 in Connecticut District Court by attorney Robert M. Berke on behalf of former employee George Edward Steins, who was arrested and charged with employing an unregistered home improvement salesperson. The complaint alleges that had Sunrun informed the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection that the plaintiff's employment had ended in 2017 and that he no longer held Sunrun's home improvement contractor license, he would not have been hit with charges, which were dismissed in May 2024.
