Jane Fearn-Zimmer handles elder and disability law, special needs planning, asset protection, tax, and estate planning and administration as a partner at Flaster Greenberg in Cherry Hill. In 2018 Zimmer concluded a client's three-year case in a dispute with county and state authorities, yielding a decision that reversed a Medicaid transfer penalty and recognized an exception for a home gifted to a child caring for an elderly parent who lives in the home. Over the years, Zimmer has handled other cases that moved the needle on Medicaid policy.

What's your single best piece of advice for handling a crisis?

A crisis can be an opportunity, you just need to implement an ideal solution. Focus on how to help the client and the next steps necessary to move ahead. Never, ever give up.

Exceed expectations and always be grateful. Strive for simplicity and clarity in speech, but don't talk down to people. Listen to your partners and your colleagues, they are just like you.
