Klein Receives Bergen Bar Achievement Award

Steven Klein, co-chairman of the litigation department at Cole Schotz in Hackensack, received the “Attorney Achievement Award” from the Bergen County Bar Foundation at its annual awards dinner on Oct. 4 at the White Beeches Golf & Country Club in Haworth. The event recognizes individuals from the community and the legal profession for lawyer achievement, community service and citizen achievement. Other honorees were: Linda H. Schwager, who received the Attorney Community Service Award and the the Bergen County Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA), which received the Community Service Award. All proceeds from the event benefited the foundation's law school scholarship and justice grant programs, according to the announcement.

Laddey Clark Holds 3rd Annual Nonprofit Summit

Allison Blake, former New Jersey Department of Children and Families commissioner and senior fellow at the Annie E. Casey Foundation, was the keynote speaker at Laddey, Clark & Ryan's third annual “Non-Profit Summit” on Oct. 5 at Perona Farms in Andover. The event launched two years ago to educate and gather executives and board members of non-profit organizations in Sussex County. The event has grown each year, and this year, Laddey Clark added breakout sessions to the program, and reached out to non-profit organizations throughout Northern and western New Jersey, the firm said. Topics included: “Messaging to Millennials: Engaging & Connecting with Younger Donors, Volunteers and Employees”; “Roadmap for Change: Exploring the Constant Need for Agencies to Navigate Change”; and “The Impact of the 2017 Tax Law on the World of Non-Profits.” Thomas N. Ryan, managing partner of the Sparta-based firm, said in a statement: “We have been gratified by the extremely positive response we have received from the non-profit community, and have been motivated to continue to step up our game to give them an even bigger and better program this year.”
