A Newark municipal court judge has denied violating ethics rules for having a woman jailed for more than three weeks over a Christmas holiday after she was supposedly disrespectful to him in his courtroom during a landlord-tenant matter.

Judge Marvin Adames is facing disciplinary charges over the incident.

The New Jersey Supreme Court's Advisory Committee on Judicial Conduct filed the complaint against Adames on Nov. 27.

Adames has retained Hamilton solo Robert Ramsey, who filed an answer to the complaint on Dec. 17.
