We're about a week into 2019. Get help keeping your career goals on track.

Keeping your resolutions can feel like an annual battle. But members of the New Jersey State Bar of Association can get some assistance this year by by attending “Career Resolutions,” a special program on Jan. 24 at the New Jersey Law Center in New Brunswick. Industry experts will be on hand to offer practical tips on how to jumpstart your career, such as updating your resume and interviewing skills.

The program will also look at alternative legal careers and what might be a good fit for you. For more information, visit njsba.com.

As 2019 marches on, here are a few other ways the New Jersey State Bar Association (NJSBA) can help you keep those resolutions.

Resolution: Get ahead on your CLE credits. The New Jersey Institute for Continuing Legal Education has you covered, with all kinds of interesting seminars and talks that will keep your expertise cutting edge. Check out all the offerings at njicle.com.

Resolution: Become a better networker. The NJSBA has hundreds of events every year for New Jersey attorneys to get to know one another. They range from huge events like three days in Atlantic City for our Annual Meeting in May to two hours in offices throughout the state for casual drinks, conversation and business card exchanges, as well as plenty of in-between gatherings. Check out the legal calendar at njsba.com.

Resolution: Build your brand. Take advantage of myriad writing opportunities available through New Jersey Lawyer and section newsletters and our CommunityNet blogs. You can also find speaking opportunities through programs like the Benchmark Civics Project, which trains attorneys to speak to community groups about how the courts work, what it means to be a citizen and the importance of an independent and fair justice system. Resolution: Find a new job. Look no further than CareerHQ, the NJSBA job bank, where members can apply for open positions for free. You can find CareerHQ at njsba.com.
