Rabner Speaks at Seton Hall Law
Seton Hall University School of Law on April 8 hosted the 2019 “Hobbs-Larson Lecture,” featuring as keynote speaker New Jersey Supreme Court Chief Justice Stuart Rabner. Speaking to an auditorium full of students, faculty, and administrators, Rabner dedicated his remarks to the spirit of civil discourse and diversity of opinion on matters of national importance, according to a release. The lecture was named in honor of former Seton Hall Law Dean Patrick E. Hobbs by Peter N. Larson (Class of '74) and his wife, Lee.
|Riker Danzig's Jarmicki Named Construction Lawyers Fellow
Riker Danzig Scherer Hyland & Perretti of Morristown announced that counsel Lisa M. Jarmicki was named a fellow of the Construction Lawyers Society of America, an invitation-only international association composed of lawyers specializing in construction law and related fields. The CLSA is dedicated to promoting superior advocacy. scholarship and ethical standards in construction law. At Riker Danzig, Jarmicki focuses on commercial, construction and business litigation in state and federal court. She also has handled private equity fund litigation, estate litigation, and professional malpractice litigation. She has represented developers, general contractors, subcontractors, manufacturers and material suppliers.
|Casey Receives Girl Scouts Award for a 2nd Time
Barbara A. Casey, a real estate partner in Ballard Spahr's Cherry Hill office, was presented with the Girl Scouts of Central and Southern New Jersey's “Honor Award” at a ceremony at the Mansion on Main Street in Vorhees on April 6. The award recognizes commitment to instilling leadership skills in girls of all ages. Casey also received the award in 2011. She is vice chair of the organization, has served on its executive board since 2007, and was a Girl Scout as a child and young adult. Since joining Ballard Spahr in 1999, Casey has logged nearly 1,000 hours of pro bono service, according to the firm. She has represented Habitat for Humanity chapters in various real estate transactions and matters. “In a world where young women need to find their voices and their own personal callings, Girl Scouts provides an environment where girls can find the courage, strength of character, and passion for learning, growing, and making the world a better place,” Casey said in a statement. Casey's practice focuses on real property acquisition, development, sales, leasing, and commercial lending. She chaired the New Jersey State Bar Association's Real Property Trust and Estate Law Section and frequently presents at legal education programs throughout the state.

The case, filed Oct. 2 in Massachusetts District Court by the Brown Law Firm on behalf of Stephen Austen, accuses certain officers and directors of misleading investors in regard to Symbotic's potential for margin growth by failing to disclose that the company was not equipped to timely deploy its systems or manage expenses through project delays. The case, assigned to U.S. District Judge Nathaniel M. Gorton, is 1:24-cv-12522, Austen v. Cohen et al.

David X. Sullivan, Thomas J. Finn and Gregory A. Hall from McCarter & English have entered appearances for Sunrun Installation Services in a pending civil rights lawsuit. The complaint was filed Sept. 4 in Connecticut District Court by attorney Robert M. Berke on behalf of former employee George Edward Steins, who was arrested and charged with employing an unregistered home improvement salesperson. The complaint alleges that had Sunrun informed the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection that the plaintiff's employment had ended in 2017 and that he no longer held Sunrun's home improvement contractor license, he would not have been hit with charges, which were dismissed in May 2024. The case, assigned to U.S. District Judge Jeffrey A. Meyer, is 3:24-cv-01423, Steins v. Sunrun, Inc. et al.
