Day Pitney Partner Haglund to Chair Lex Mundi Board

The board of directors of Lex Mundi, a network of law firms, elected Day Pitney Parsippany partner Benjamin Haglund to chair at the 2019 Lex Mundi Leadership Summit and Annual Conference held May 2-4 in London. “I am fortunate to have the opportunity to follow in the footsteps of inspirational leaders and continue to drive Lex Mundi's long-standing reputation as an innovative, highly responsive, and world-class market leader,” Haglund said in a statement. He has served on the board since 2015 and previously held the positions of chair-elect, secretary, and treasurer. Haglund also serves on the board of directors of the Lex Mundi Pro Bono Foundation, a nonprofit corporation and an affiliate of Lex Mundi providing pro bono legal services. Day Pitney is the exclusive member firm in New Jersey for Lex Mundi and has been a part of the organization's global network for the past 30 years, the firm said.

Navarino Elected Chair of NJSBA Taxation Section

Jason Navarino , a partner in the corporate and tax groups at Riker Danzig Scherer Hyland & Perretti in Morristown, was elected chair of the Taxation Section of the New Jersey State Bar Association. The announcement was made on May 17 at the annual NJSBA Convention in Atlantic City. Navarino previously served as chair-elect, first vice chair and secretary, and is current chair of the section's International Tax Committee. In addition to his involvement in the NJSBA, he is also a member of the New York State Bar Association and its Tax Section, and he serves on several nonprofit boards.

The Commercial Real Estate Development Association (NAIOP) announced that more than 800 attendees turned out at NAIOP New Jersey's 32nd annual awards gala on May 16 at the Palace at Somerset Park in Somerset. The event recognized the achievements of professionals and organizations, and the state's most important transactions of 2018. The highest honor, the Lifetime Achievement Award, went to Andrew J. Merin, an executive vice chairman of Cushman & Wakefield. New Brunswick Mayor James M. Cahill received the Caren S. Franzini Public Partner Award, which honors local champions of development that inspire and transform communities. The Impact Award, which recognizes firms for their impact on the industrial and office development community, was presented to Greek Development and Whitesell Construction Co. Inc. Gretchen Wilcox, president and founder of G.S. Wilcox & Co., received the Industry Service Award for her contributions in support of the commercial and industrial real estate industry's goals.  Deal of the Year Awards were given to various firms. Hutcheon Reappointed to Jurimetrics Journal Editorial Board

Peter D. Hutcheon , a partner at Norris McLaughlin in Bridgewater, has been appointed to the 2019-2020 Jurimetrics Journal Editorial Board, according to a statement issued by the firm. Jurimetrics is the publication of the Science and Technology Law Section of the American Bar Association. It is an international journal covering all areas of law, science, and technology. Hutcheon has served as associate editor (1974-1977) and editor-in-chief (1977-1981) of the publication and has been a member of its editorial board since 2011. In his practice, Hutcheon handles business governance, commercial transactions, securities, banking, and finance. Hutcheon received his undergraduate degree, magna cum laude, from Williams College and his J.D., cum laude, from Harvard Law School.
