Peter Frazza, Allen Harris and Christopher Anton joined the commercial and criminal litigation department of Gibbons in Newark—Frazza and Harris as partners, and Anton as counsel, according to an announcement from the firm Monday.

Gibbons managing partner Patrick Dunican Jr. said in a statement: “This talented team brings to Gibbons decades of exactly the kind of wide-ranging litigation experience we rely on to best serve our clients, along with compelling practice niches in areas of increasing interest to those clients.”

Frazza expands Gibbons' software practice, handling software licensing and IP disputes, according to the announcement, which also noted Frazza's experience with professional malpractice and business counseling and litigation matters.

Harris handles various types of commercial litigation, as does Anton, who is tasked with helping Frazza in what the firm says will be a growing software practice, according to the announcement.

Frazza couldn't be reached by phone or email Monday.

Budd Larner recently told the Law Journal that it would close this month.

“We are sad to announce that after 85 years of servicing clients and contributing towards shaping New Jersey's legal landscape, Budd Larner will be ceasing operations in July,” said a June 14 statement from executive committee members Frazza and Susan Winters, though no specific date was given.

Days later Winters told the Law Journal that she and five other lawyers from her family law practice would join Chiesa Shahinian & Giantomasi, launching a new practice for that firm.

It was not clear Monday whether Budd Larner remains in operation. Chief operating officer Mitchell Rait didn't immediately respond to a call and email, and a call to the firm's general number was answered by an automated message. An outside attorney representing the firm also could not be reached.
