Capehart Scatchard Hosts First-Year Law Students
Capehart Scatchard hosted a panel discussion and breakfast on July 9 at its Mount Laurel office for first-year law students from Rutgers Law School in Camden. The students are part of the Rutgers Minority Student Program. Capehart Scatchard attorneys Sanmathi (Sanu) Dev, Mary Ellen Rose and Lauren Tedesco, and summer law clerks Courtney Crosby, Jeong Park and Edward Wiest, served as panelists participating in a discussion on law careers in private practice, sharing insights about various practice areas, clerkships and law school. The event was hosted by Capehart Scatchard’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee, which Dev leads.
AAJ Announces Stern as New President
The American Association for Justice announced that Bruce Stern was sworn in as president at its annual convention held July 27-30 at the San Diego Convention Center in San Diego. Stern is a partner and member of the personal injury group at Stark & Stark in Lawrenceville. Stern specializes in trucking and construction litigation, brain and spinal cord injuries, and wrongful death. He has represented injured people seeking justice for more than 35 years. “It is an honor to lead AAJ at a time when civil justice and protecting the Seventh Amendment right to trial by jury is so important,” said Stern in a statement issued by the AAJ. “I will continue to advance the organization’s mission to promote a fair and effective justice system so that our attorney members can seek justice for those who have been physically and financially harmed.” Stern is a founding member and past chair of the AAJ’s Traumatic Brain Injury Litigation Group, and chaired the Motor Vehicle Collision, Highway and Premises Liability Section and the Audit Committee. He also served as president of the New Jersey Association for Justice. The other AAJ officers sworn in at the event were: past president Elise Sanguinetti of Arias Sanguinetti Wang & Torrijos in Oakland, California; president-elect Tobi Millrood of Pogust Millrood in Conshohocken, Pennsylvania; vice president Navan Ward of Beasley, Allen, Crow, Methvin, Portis & Miles in Atlanta; secretary Tad Thomas of Thomas Law Offices in Chicago and Louisville, Kentucky; treasurer Sean C. Domnick of Domnick Cunningham & Whalen in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.; and parliamentarian Lori Andrus of Andrus Anderson in San Francisco.
Laddey Clark Summer Associate Offered Supreme Court Clerkship
Elizabeth “Liz” Caldera, a summer associate at Sparta-based Laddey, Clark & Ryan has been offered a clerkship with Lee A. Solomon , associate justice of the New Jersey Supreme Court, the firm announced, noting that only 14 law students are selected for the position each year. Caldera recently completed her second year of law school at Seton Hall University School of Law in Newark.

The suit, accusing the defendant of selling knock-off Graco products, was filed Dec. 18 in New Jersey District Court by Rivkin Radler on behalf of Graco Inc. and Graco Minnesota.
