Goldberg Segalla Welcomes Kokalas as Partner
Goldberg Segalla has added partner Marci Kokalas to the firm's global insurance practice in Newark. Kokalas, previously with Lazare Potter Giacovas & Moyle in New York, represents insurers in complex insurance coverage matters and disputes arising under general liability and property policies, including both first-party and third-party liability actions, in trials, appeals, arbitrations and mediations. She also provides coverage opinions, policy analysis, reservation/declaration letters, and pre-litigation counseling. and handles complex commercial litigation, liability claims, and employment matters. Kokalas earned her bachelor's degree from Cornell University and her J.D. from The George Washington University Law School in St. Louis. Kokalas previously was the assistant district attorney in the New York County District Attorney's Office, where she prosecuted felony criminal cases in the Supreme Court. |
Naqvi Joins Wilentz Goldman
Zain A. Naqvi joined Wilentz, Goldman & Spitzer in Woodbridge as an associate in the real estate group. He represents real estate investment trusts, commercial developers, property owners, and commercial landlords in transactional matters. According to the firm, he has extensive experience in commercial and real estate litigation matters, and for nearly a decade managed and litigated complex disputes in New York and New Jersey state courts on behalf of New York City commercial developers and landlords. Naqvi earned his law degree in 2010 from Brooklyn Law School, where he was the associate managing editor of the Brooklyn Journal of International Law, and a recipient of the Academic Achievement Award and the Gold Public Service Award. He also practiced in the federal immigration and federal criminal prosecution clinics with the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of New York. He earned his undergraduate degree from Rutgers University in 2007. He is admitted in New Jersey and New York. |
Two Join Post Polak as Of Counsel
Baye Adofo-Wilson and Michele Jaker joined the Roseland office of Post Polak Goodsell & Strauchler as of counsel.
Adofo-Wilson is a lawyer, consultant and real estate developer with expertise in arts and cultural districts, sustainability and mixed-income housing. He focuses his law practice on New Jersey redevelopment law and opportunity zones. He was formerly deputy mayor and director of Economic and Housing Development for Newark.

Riker Danzig Welcomes Back Associate Halat
Riker Danzig Scherer Hyland & Perretti in Morristown brought back associate Angelica Halat. She joined the products liability, toxic tort and mass tort group, and the labor and employment group. Halat started her career with Riker Danzig as a summer associate in 2015. She then clerked for New Jersey Supreme Court Associate Justice Jaynee LaVecchia, and returned to Riker Danzig as an associate in the fall of 2017. She then clerked for Judge Michael A. Chagares of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, and returns to the firm now following that clerkship. Halat received her law degree from Seton Hall University School of Law in 2016. There she served as managing editor of the Seton Hall Law Review. She earned her B.A. from Lehigh University in 2013, graduating summa cum laude.
|Capehart Paralegal Earns Estate Planner Designation
Capehart Scatchard in Mount Laurel announced that paralegal Kay M. Sowa was designated an accredited estate planner by the National Association of Estate Planners and Councils. At the firm, she handles tax, accounting and litigation matters relating to trusts, estates and individuals. She is an IRS enrolled agent eligible to represent taxpayers before all administrative levels of the IRS. The accredited estate planner designation is a graduate-level specialization in estate planning. It is awarded by the National Association of Estate Planners and Councils to recognize estate planning professionals who meet stringent requirements of experience, knowledge, education, professional reputation and character, and who commit to the team concept of estate planning, a release noted.

The case, filed Oct. 2 in Massachusetts District Court by the Brown Law Firm on behalf of Stephen Austen, accuses certain officers and directors of misleading investors in regard to Symbotic's potential for margin growth by failing to disclose that the company was not equipped to timely deploy its systems or manage expenses through project delays. The case, assigned to U.S. District Judge Nathaniel M. Gorton, is 1:24-cv-12522, Austen v. Cohen et al.

The complaint was filed Sept. 4 in Connecticut District Court by attorney Robert M. Berke on behalf of former employee George Edward Steins, who was arrested and charged with employing an unregistered home improvement salesperson. The complaint alleges that had Sunrun informed the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection that the plaintiff's employment had ended in 2017 and that he no longer held Sunrun's home improvement contractor license, he would not have been hit with charges, which were dismissed in May 2024.
