Schenck Price Collects Supplies for United Way 'Tools for Schools' Drive
Schenck Price Smith & King in Florhanm Park recently held a school supply collection for the United Way of Northern New Jersey 2019 "Tools for Schools" program. The program is an annual school supplies drive that helps ensure students receive what they need for academic success. Each year, more than 70,000 items are collected by participating organizations and volunteers, and distributed to more than 80 schools and community organizations serving children, according to a release.
|Riker Danzig and Grow It Green Team Up
Riker Danzig Scherer Hyland & Perretti teamed up with Grow it Green Morristown for a volunteer event at the Urban Farm on September 10, 2019. Employees of the Morristown-based firm were given the afternoon off to assist with preparations for the fall growing season. The Urban Farm is New Jersey's largest public school garden, and is managed by a small staff, part-time interns and community volunteers, the firm said a release. Riker Danzig partner Jeffrey M. Beyer, an insurance litigator and board member of Grow it Green Morristown, coordinated the volunteer day at the Urban Farm in Morristown. A group of 12 Riker Danzig volunteers comprised of attorneys, paralegals and administrative staff weeded and cleared garden beds and compost, weighed and bundled fresh radishes, harvested hops, and fed chickens, all under the direction of Grow It Green's director of agriculture and education, Shaun Ananko, and assistant farmer, Megan Phelan, the release said.
|McCarter Receives Pro Bono Publico Award
McCarter & English on received the "Pro Bono Publico" Award on Aug. 1 from the American Bar Association Standing Committee on Pro Bono and Public Service, Volunteer Lawyers for Justice said in a congratulatory message, which noted that the award is the committee's top honor. (VLJ and McCarter & English have a partnership, it also noted). The award highlights the work of firmwide managing partner Joseph Boccassini, chairman Joseph Lubertazzi Jr. former chairman Michael Kelly, Michelle Movahed, a partner and head of McCarter's pro bono practice, Geoffrey Rosamond, a partner, VLJ trustee and long-time VLJ volunteer, and all McCarter attorneys who make the time to prioritize pro bono work.

The case, filed Oct. 2 in Massachusetts District Court by the Brown Law Firm on behalf of Stephen Austen, accuses certain officers and directors of misleading investors in regard to Symbotic's potential for margin growth by failing to disclose that the company was not equipped to timely deploy its systems or manage expenses through project delays. The complaint was filed Sept. 4 in Connecticut District Court by attorney Robert M. Berke on behalf of former employee George Edward Steins, who was arrested and charged with employing an unregistered home improvement salesperson. The complaint alleges that had Sunrun informed the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection that the plaintiff's employment had ended in 2017 and that he no longer held Sunrun's home improvement contractor license, he would not have been hit with charges, which were dismissed in May 2024.
