Florio Receives Lifetime Achievement Award
Former New Jersey Gov. James J. Florio , a founding partner of Florio Perrucci Steinhardt & Cappelli , received the "Distinguished Lifetime Achievement Award" at the Hughes Center Honors on Nov. 14 at the Seaview in Galloway Township. The center is named for the late U.S. Rep. William Hughes, who recently died. Former Gov. Christie Whitman also received a "Lifetime Achievement Award" at the event. Other honorees were Mark Giannantonio, president and CEO of Resorts Casino Hotel; Sharon Schulman, founding executive director of the Hughes Center; and Ike Ejikeme, a recent Stockton University graduate, according to a release. The event recognizes outstanding New Jerseyans for excellence in their field and for a commitment to public service, civility and bipartisanship that reflects the life and career of William J. Hughes, who served as U.S. ambassador to Panama and as a U.S. congressman for 20 years. He died on Oct. 30. The awards program was sponsored by the William J. Hughes Center for Public Policy at Stockton University. "The loss of Bill Hughes and all the good he represented should cause us to rededicate ourselves to the values he and his center stand for. I accept this award in that spirit," Florio said in a statement. Florio is chairman of his firm's energy, environmental law, government and regulatory affairs, and health-care law groups. He served as 49th New Jersey governor from 1990-94, and in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1974-90, He is a senior fellow for public policy and administration at the Edward J. Bloustein Graduate School of Public Policy at Rutgers University; serves on the board of directors of the NJ Health Care Quality Institute; is co-chairman of the Regional Plan Association's New Jersey Committee; and is a member of the board of trustees of The Fund for New Jersey. He graduated from Trenton State College, received the Woodrow Wilson Fellowship from Columbia University, and earned his law degree from Rutgers Law School–Camden. |
Bergen Bar Hosts Annual Professionalism in the Law Event
The Bergen County Bar Association hosted its annual professionalism in the law seminar and awards dinner on Wednesday, Oct. 16 at Seasons in Washington Township. Association President Andrew J. Cevasco presented Michael "Jerry" Breslin with the first annual "Albert Burstein Attorney Public Service Award." Thomas Loikith was presented with this year's "Hon. Peter Ciolino Professional Lawyer of the Year Award." A featured speaker was New Jersey Attorney General Gurbir Grewal .

The case, filed Oct. 2 in Massachusetts District Court by the Brown Law Firm on behalf of Stephen Austen, accuses certain officers and directors of misleading investors in regard to Symbotic's potential for margin growth by failing to disclose that the company was not equipped to timely deploy its systems or manage expenses through project delays.
