Two attorneys will be honored at the New Jersey State Bar Association (NJSBA) Real Property, Trust and Estate Law Section's annual dinner on Jan. 22 with awards for distinguished service that recognize expertise in their practice areas and service to the bar.

NJSBA Trustee Heather G. Suarez, of Milber Makris Plousadis & Seiden in Jersey City, will receive the Arthur S. Horn Distinguished Service Award. Suarez's practice concentrates in the areas of real estate, business, banking and litigation. She handles all aspects of real estate development matters, including condemnation, zoning, planning, traffic and environmental issues. Suarez is active in the NJSBA, local bar organizations and community groups.

Leonard J. Witman, managing partner of Witman Stadtmauer in Florham Park, will receive the Dorothy G. Black Distinguished Service Award. Witman is a past chair of the NJSBA Taxation Law Section and the Employee Benefits Committee. His practice areas include estate planning; pensions, benefits and compensation; trusts; and estate administration. A nationally known lecturer and author of numerous articles and books on taxes and deferred compensation, Witman also teaches at Seton Hall Law School and Rutgers Business School, and is a tax specialist and instructor with the Internal Revenue Service.
