Chiesa Shahinian Toy Drive Benefits Newark Beth Israel's Children's Hospital
Chiesa Shahinian & Giantomasi in West Orange held a holiday employee "Jeans Day" fundraiser and toy drive that, according to the firm, led to the donation of more than 100 toys to the "Child Life Toy Drive" held by the Children's Hospital of New Jersey at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center. Some toys were gifted to individual children, and others will be placed in designated play areas for communal use. The firm's donation was presented on Dec. 16, 2019, to Beth Tepper, vice president of development with Newark Beth Israel, by Francis J. Giantomasi , a Chiesa firm partner and recently-elected chair of the medical centers' board of trustees, and firm partner Shirley U. Emehelu . The Children's Hospital of New Jersey provides more than 30 specialized pediatric services for children from birth through adolescence, and includes the state's largest Valerie Fund Children's Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders and the Children's Heart Center, the release noted.Einhorn Barbarito Receives Succession Progress Award
Einhorn, Barbarito, Frost & Botwinick Denville was recognized with the "Award for Succession Progress" at the Managing Partner RoundTable "Law Firm Excellence Awards" on Jan. 15 at the Yale Club in New York City. Firm co-managing partners Patricia M. Barbarito and Gary R. Botwinick received the award on behalf of the firm. Barbarito said in a statement, "We continue to evolve as a firm, with growing practice areas that recognize the diverse needs of our clients' businesses and families, and we are proud of our succession planning." Botwinick, also chair of the firm's taxation, trusts and estates department, said in the statement, "Much of the success of our firm and its progression comes from the fact that Pat, who has been with the firm since clerking while in law school, has always been well entrenched as a leader in the firm, contributing her business acumen and dedication to the needs of the clients and the bar in general." Barbarito added, "Gary's leadership role began many years ago as he embraced the use of technology to improve productivity and focused on developing talent among the newer attorneys at the firm."Caliguire Begins 2nd Term as Park Commission President
Mark Caliguire , a partner in the Phillipsburg office of Florio Perrucci Steinhardt & Cappelli , was sworn in for his second year as president of the Somerset County Park Commission as part of the commission's annual reorganization meeting on Jan. 6, 2020, at its North Branch Park headquarters in Bridgewater. The commission manages Somerset County's 15,000 acres of parkland and open space, including five county golf courses and hundreds of recreational programs, according to a release. It seeks to promote stewardship of land and resources, provide outstanding recreation opportunities and leisure services, and foster an environment that is service-oriented and responsive to public needs. In his practice, Caliguire handles government affairs, administrative, corporate business law and litigation. He served as a Somerset County freeholder from 2011 to 2018, serving as director of the Freeholder Board in 2015. He is the current chairman of the Montgomery Township Republican Committee, and previously served as a township committeeman and as mayor of Montgomery Township. He started his legal career at as a deputy attorney general in the New Jersey Division of Criminal Justice. The case, filed Oct. 2 in Massachusetts District Court by the Brown Law Firm on behalf of Stephen Austen, accuses certain officers and directors of misleading investors in regard to Symbotic's potential for margin growth by failing to disclose that the company was not equipped to timely deploy its systems or manage expenses through project delays. The case, assigned to U.S. District Judge Nathaniel M. Gorton, is 1:24-cv-12522, Austen v. Cohen et al.
