Lindabury's Nicole Kobis Elevated to Partner

Lindabury, McCormick, Estabrook & Cooper in Westfield elevated family law attorney Nicole A. Kobis  to partner. She handles divorce, custody, spousal support, child support, equitable distribution and domestic violence; drafting complex pre- and post-judgment motions as well as non-dissolution applications. She is an accredited New Jersey family and divorce mediator, counseling clients in negotiating and drafting marital settlement agreements. Admitted in New Jersey and New York, Kobis holds a J.D. from Rutgers Law School-Newark. Prior to joining Lindabury in 2013, she clerked for Union County Superior Court Judge Katherine R. Dupuis , then presiding family judge. Parker McCay Promotes Two

Parker McCay in Mount Laurel announced the promotion of Brett E. J. Gorman and  Steven P. Goodell to partner.

Gorman concentrates on public schools and education, representing boards of education in all areas: special education, civil litigation, labor and employment matters, and negotiations. He appears in state and federal trial and appeals courts, as well as the Office of Administrative Law. He was appointed as secretary for the Burlington County Bar Association in 2019 and awarded its Robert W. Criscuolo Award, presented annually to a young attorney committed to the legal profession and the community. Prior to joining the firm in 2011, Gorman clerked for Superior Court Judge F rederick J. Schuck  in the Civil Part, and previously worked at Parker McCay as a law clerk. He earned his J.D. from Rutgers Law School and his bachelor's degree from Rutgers University. "The promotion of Mr. Gorman to shareholder is a recognition of his work ethic, dedication to clients, and commitment to the firm," said firm public schools and education practice chair Frank Cavallo in a statement. "He possesses all of the tools to be a future leader of the school law department and the firm."

Goodell handles municipal and land use law, sports law, and litigation. He serves as court-appointed special hearing officer for affordable housing cases, general counsel to the state high school athletic association, and represents municipalities and religious entities throughout New Jersey. Goodell received the 2018 NJSIAA "Award of Honor" and the 2019 "Adam Taliaferro Foundation Award for Courage." The latter recognizes his fight to return to practice after a 2016 cycling accident left him paralyzed. He is treasurer of the New Jersey Institute of Local Government Attorneys and an associate counsel for the New Jersey League of Municipalities. He is also a member of the National Diocesan Attorneys Association, and the Mercer County and New Jersey State bar associations. He is admitted in New Jersey, and before the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey, the U.S. Third and D.C. Circuits Courts, and the U.S. Supreme Court. He earned his J.D. from the University of Texas School of Law and his bachelor's degree from Bucknell University. John Gillespie, chair of the firm's municipal and government practice, said in a statement that Goodell "has a long and distinguished career as an attorney, and we were excited when he joined us three years ago. NFIB Names Kean NJ State Director

The National Federation of Independent Business, which represents small and independently owned businesses in New Jersey, named lawyer-lobbyist  Eileen Kean  its state director. According to a release, Kean, a partner at Komjathy & Kean in Trenton, has decades of lobbying experience in Trenton and Washington, D.C., and has developed relationships at the state capitol while representing associations and private businesses. She is a commissioner for the Monmouth County Board of Elections, a trustee for New Jersey governor's residence Drumthwacket, and a member of the NJ Board of Pharmacy. She graduated from Seton Hall University School of Law, and previously was chief executive officer of the Independent Insurance Agents of New Jersey and president of the Deal School Board of Education.  "I look forward to advocating for small business owners who are risk takers, job creators, and pillars of their communities," said Kean in a statement. "These entrepreneurs are busy people working long hours to grow their businesses. I will ensure their voices are heard loud and clear by policymakers in Trenton so they can focus on what they do best." NFIB executive director of state government relations Tim Goodrich said in a statement that Kean " brings vast government relations and business experience to the table," and " will be able to explain to lawmakers the impact bills could have on a small business owners' daily operation or their success in the marketplace."
