Facing discipline from the Advisory Committee on Judicial Conduct on charges of ruling in favor of a personal friend in an estate case, Passaic County Surrogate Bernice Toledo has responded that she is only distantly acquainted with the man, via Facebook.

On Dec. 23 the ACJC accused Toledo of violating a half-dozen violations of the Code of Judicial Conduct for appointing Keith Stewart to supervise the estate of Mark Halchak, who died intestate.
