Saiber  in Florham Park received Habitat for Humanity of Greater Newark's 2019 "Golden Hammer Award" at the organization's annual banquet at the Priory in Newark on Nov. 14, 2019. The award is given annually to organizations and individuals who have been instrumental in advancing Habitat's mission, according to a release. More than 100 business owners and members of the community attended the event, and Saiber was one eight honorees recognized, the release noted. Saiber has partnered with the Greater Newark chapter for more than five years, helping home buyers with purchases. Habitat for Humanity is a world service organization that provides affordable homes with interest-free mortgages to families in need. Saiber attorneys assist in all facets of closing, including reviewing real estate and loan documents, explaining purchase and mortgage terms, reviewing calculations and providing advice on the funds necessary for the closing.

Danielle M. DeFilippis  of  Norris McLaughlin  presented on "Food Law Basics" for the "Food Business Bootcamp" on Feb. 22 at the Hudson Kitchen in Kearny, addressing the responsibility of food business owners to know federal, state and local laws; advertising considerations; and intellectual property. The full-day workshop also included topics such as goal setting, pricing and menu planning, marketing trends, and food business requirements and operations, and offered the opportunity to tour the commercial kitchen and take home a  handbook, the release noted. "This is a great opportunity for anyone ready to turn their passion into a profitable business. Being a part of a community centered around a commercial kitchen like Hudson Kitchen is a recipe for success," DeFilippis said in a statement. DeFilippis is a partner and and co-chair of the intellectual property law practice group in Bridgewater. She  received her J.D. from Seton Hall University School of Law in 2004 and her B.A. from The Pennsylvania State University in 2001.
