McCarter Partner Richman Joins IADC
Ryan Richman, a partner at McCarter & English in Newark, accepted an invitation to join the International Association of Defense Counsel, an invitation-only organization of attorneys who represent corporate and insurance interests. Richman has been a board member of the New Jersey Defense Association since 2015 and currently serves as the organization's secretary-treasurer. In his practice, Richman handles products liability, toxic torts, complex commercial litigation and high-value personal injury on behalf of clients in various industries. He serves on the state Supreme Court's Model Civil Jury Charge Committee. He received his J.D. from Rutgers Law School-Newark and his B.S. from Pennsylvania State University. Founded in 1920, the IADC has members hailing from six continents, 51 countries and territories, and all 50 U.S. states, and it aims to enhance the development of skills, promote professionalism, and facilitate camaraderie among its members, their clients, and the civil justice community, according to the announcement.
|Kenney to Co-Chair Morris Bar's Criminal Committee
Einhorn, Barbarito, Frost & Botwinick announced that Brian D. Kenney , counsel in the firm's criminal practice group, was named co-chair of the Morris County Bar Association's Criminal Committee. Kenney said in a statement, "I look forward to sharing this role with Maggie Calderwood, who is currently the Morris County Prosecutor's Office chief assistant prosecutor, and was a colleague of mine there before I went into private practice." Kenney is on the board of trustees for the New Jersey State Bar Association's Criminal Law Section. A former Morris County assistant prosecutor, Kenney handles cases from initial investigation or arrest through trial and appeal, and represents clients in municipal court. He received his J.D. from Seton Hall University School of Law, and his B.A. from King's College. He clerked for Morris County Assignment Judge B. Theodore Bozonelis in Morristown. He was an assistant prosecutor from 2002 to 2005, and again from 2013 to 2018. He also practiced at Nuzzi & Mason . |
Hudson Bar to Award Law School Scholarships
The Hudson County Bar Foundation will award scholarships to students who are attending law school or who have been accepted to law school for the September 2020–May 2021 term, the foundation announced. Members and families of the Hudson County legal community have funded these 50 scholarships. Students must be bona fide residents of Hudson County; must demonstrate financial need; must provide two current letters of recommendation and must account for appropriate academic standards. Applications are due by April 24.
